Obituary from Thomasville Times: Jerome Joseph Holmes

from Penny Palmer Blanchard: "...two of the most gentlemanly men in our class. I can see their sweet smiles at the ages of 16-18. I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers."

from Eddie Regan: "Jerome (forgive me for failing to change to Jay because, to me, he will always be Jerome) was deeply involved with and such as asset to our class. Both of these fellows could win you over with their smiles. That is the way I intend to remember them -- bright, healthy and smiling."

Jerome and I were good buddies in HS. We had lots of good times and laughs together. After that I didn't see much of him except at a couple of reunions. He had an abundance of positive energy and a great sense of humor. I think you can see that in the picture posted on this page. I know anybody that knew him will miss him alot. Susan and I send our love and sympathy to his family.

Unfortunatly I did not know Jerome that well, but I do remember his big smiles.  I am sure that for his close friends he brought them lots of joy and he had to be a pleasure to be around.  Also remembered him being such a sharp dresser, as compared to my blue jeans every day!   We will lift up his family in our prayers and ask that they have the strenght to get through this tough time.

I got to know Jay in about the 8th or 9th grade.  I remember those dimples when he smiled and he smiled a lot.  He was always cheerful and smiling.  At our mini-reunion in Wilmington, even knowing what he would be going through, he was always smiling, laughing, and had just the most amazing attitude towards his illness.  We will all miss you, Jay.  You made our lives a little brighter.
